Lloydminster Public Library is a member of Saskatchewan's Lakeland Library Region.

If you are a resident of Lloydminster or own property within the city limits you may apply for a library card at no charge.  We can also issue cards to Saskatchewan residents within the Lakeland Library Region boundaries who are not served by a local branch library. A Lakeland Library Region card is available free of charge if you live or own property in Lloydminster. It is renewable on a yearly basis. This card is accepted at any public library in Saskatchewan and at many Alberta libraries.

Library cards can be issued to people of any age. If you are under 14 years you will need a parent or guardian present to sign the registration form and accept responsibility for all use made of the card.

Library cards may be used only by the person to whom it issued and must be presented each time you borrow materials. Please contact the library immediately if you lose your card or change your address or telephone number. A charge of $5 is made for lost or stolen cards.

Not from Lloydminster?

We welcome computer barcoded library cards issued by TAL members (Alberta libraries) and any Saskatchewan public library. You may reserve and borrow any materials in our collection and use the Internet.

County of Vermilion River residents can obtain Northern Lights Library System TRAC cards from public libraries in Marwayne, Paradise Valley and Vermilion. Your TRAC card allows you to reserve and borrow items from LPL and use the Internet. Interlibrary loan is only available through your home library.

If you prefer, you can buy an annual non-resident card from us for $30 ($60/year for all members of a family living at the same address). This card gives you full access to our services and can be used to borrow materials from any public library in Saskatchewan.

Computer barcoded library cards from communities outside Alberta and Saskatchewan may be accepted with other valid ID. Some limits on borrowing will apply.

A library card is not required to use library materials within the library.

Borrowing

Library materials may be borrowed for the following time periods:

Books, audiobooks & children's kits
3 weeks
Videos & magazines 1 week

You may borrow up 99 items at one time. However we do put limits on high demand items such as popular authors, dvds and magazine back issues. For nonfiction titles the limit is four per subject area per card.

If the item you want is out

You can place a hold using the online catalogue from home or at the Library. Staff can also place holds. When your item is available, you will be notified.

Renewing library materials

Most Library materials may be renewed. Even if an item is overdue, it may be renewed and the late charges will be added to your account. Materials are renewed from the day of renewal, not from the original due date.

An item cannot be renewed if it has been requested by someone else or if it has been renewed twice already.

Returning items

A date due receipt is printed each time you borrow materials and staff can provide a status update at any time.

Items should be returned to the Library by the end of the day that they are due. Please return Library materials on time so other people can borrow them.

Borrowed items may be returned at other libraries but you are responsible for the items until they are properly received by the owning library.

Late charges and fees

You are responsible for items taken out on your card. Late charges will be assessed for each day or part day after the due date.

Late charges on adult materials are 30 cents per day to a maximum limit of $6.30 for each item.

Charges on young adult materials are 20 cents per day to a maximum limit of $4.20 for each item.

There are no late charges on children's materials (Picture books, Board books, Children's magazines, Children's video/dvd, Children's fiction, Children's paperback, Children's nonfiction).

If all overdues are returned in good condition the maximum late charge collected is $25.00.

Damaged or lost items

Lost or damaged library materials are charged according to the cost of replacement.

Lost and paid materials returned with your receipt within one month of payment will receive a refund less the normal late charge.
